DMARC is the technical solution designed to protect your email domain from this type of misuse. However, adopting DMARC can be challenging for many organizations. Domain reputation is what email service providers use to assess if it’s safe to send emails from your domain or if they should be marked as spam.Your reputation – which is also known as sender reputation – is based on the practices and precautions you take when using your domain to email.

You can fix a bad domain reputation by using email authentication solutions like Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting and Conformance (DMARC), DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM), and Sender Policy Framework (SPF).

There are online tools you can use to check your domain reputation. Alternatively, ask your email security provider for help. Email service providers assess your reputation by looking at your spam complaints, sending volume, and engagement metrics. In a worst-case scenario, they may blacklist your domain, which means they've marked you as sending spam or malicious emails – but you can reverse this with evidence that you’ve solved the problem.
