Recipient verification methods

Recipient verification methods

Introduction

Zivver ensures that all recipients of Zivver messages go through a two-factor authentication (2FA) process before accessing their messages. The sender must share a verification method with the recipient, such as an access code or 6-digit code sent via SMS. The supported verification methods are described below.

Verification completed

Existing Zivver account

This method is automatically selected for secure messages sent to existing Zivver users:

Verification level 3

Verification by SMS

An access code is sent via SMS when the recipient requests it. This method is suitable for recipients without a Zivver account.

See Open a Zivver message using an SMS code for more information.

Verification level 2

Verification by access code

The sender shares a pre-defined access code with the recipient through a secure channel (preferably not email). This code is required to access the message.

See Open a Zivver message using an access code for more information.

Verification level 1

Verification by email

This verification method is the least secure and should only be used as a last resort.

See Open a Zivver message using a verification email for more information.
