# Office plugin installation manual for Microsoft RDS ## Introduction How to install the Zivver Office Plugin for Outlook in an environment with Microsoft Remote Desktop Services (RDS). ## Minimal technical requirements ### System requirements - Microsoft Windows 10 or higher. - Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8 or higher. - Microsoft Outlook 2021 or higher. - Memory utilization: +/- 150 MB in total per Outlook session. ### Product specific requirements - HTTPS connection, port 443, TLS v1.2 or higher with https://*.zivver.com. - Outlook in Cached Mode1. - A [Microsoft supported scenario](https://docs.microsoft.com/en-gb/DeployOffice/install-different-office-visio-and-project-versions-on-the-same-computer?toc=/deployoffice/office2019/toc.json#example-installation-scenarios) when using different versions of Office, Project, and Visio on the same computer. 1) Zivver follows the recommended practice of [Microsoft](https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/turn-on-cached-exchange-mode-7885af08-9a60-4ec3-850a-e221c1ed0c1c) and [Citrix](https://docs.citrix.com/en-us/tech-zone/build/deployment-guides/microsoft-365-citrix.html) for optimal performance with Outlook in Cached Mode. Performance issues related to Online Mode will be investigated on a best-effort basis. ### RDS specific requirements - Administrator access to the Remote Desktop Host Server(s). ## Download link [Latest MSI installer download link](https://downloads.zivver.com/officeplugin/latest/Zivver.OfficePlugin.Installer.msi) ## Installation The plugin can be installed directly on an RDS server in one of two ways: 1. [Control Panel installation](https://docs.zivver.com/en/admin/officeplugin/rds-installation-manual.html#control-panel-installation) Tip You can also install the Zivver Office Plugin on RDS servers using either [Microsoft Configuration Manager](https://docs.zivver.com/en/admin/officeplugin/sccm-installation-manual.html) or [Group Policy Objects (GPO)](https://docs.zivver.com/en/admin/officeplugin/gpo-installation-manual.html). Make sure to implement the additional required settings as well, not just the plugin installation. Refer to [Recommended Office Plugin settings](https://docs.zivver.com/en/admin/officeplugin/rds-installation-manual.html#recommended-office-plugin-settings) for more details. ### Command line installation 1. Log in to the Remote Desktop Session Host Server with administrator rights. 2. Open the Command Line Interface. _For example, by running the command `cmd`._ 3. Make sure there are currently no users logged on to the server. 4. If the installation is done outside of maintenance windows, enter `change logon /disable` to ensure users cannot log on during the installation. 5. Enter `change user /install` to switch the server to installation mode. 6. Run the MSI installer package of the plugin to start the installation process. [Download the latest version](https://downloads.zivver.com/officeplugin/latest/Zivver.OfficePlugin.Installer.msi) 7. Click **Next** in the plugin installation wizard. 8. _Optional_: Click **Browse** to change the installation folder. Note The plugin can only be installed system-wide using the **Everyone** option. Click **Next**. 10. Click **Next** again. _Wait a moment for the installation to complete._ 11. Click **Close** to close the installation wizard. 12. After installation, enter `change user /execute` to return the server to execution mode. 13. Log in to the RDS Host Server with administrator rights. 02. Open the Command Line Interface. _For example, by running the command `cmd`._ 03. Go to **Programs**. 07. Select **Install Application on Remote Desktop Server**. 08. Click **Next**. 09. Click **Browse** and select the MSI installer package of the plugin. [Download the latest version](https://downloads.zivver.com/officeplugin/latest/Zivver.OfficePlugin.Installer.msi) 10. Click **Open** to confirm the selection. 11. Click **Next**. _The plugin installation wizard should now open._ 12. Click **Next**. 13. _Optional_: Click **Browse** to change the installation folder. Note 14. Click **Next**. 15. Click **Next** again. _Wait a moment until the plugin is installed._ 16. Click **Close** to close the plugin installation wizard. 17. In the **Install Application on Remote Desktop Server** wizard, click **Finish**. _The plugin is now installed on the server._ 18. Enter `change logon /enable` to allow users to log in to the server again. Please visit the [Recommended Office plugin settings](https://docs.zivver.com/en/admin/officeplugin/gpo-installation-manual.html#recommended-office-plugin-settings) of the GPO installation manual. ### Update the plugin [Download the latest MSI version](https://downloads.zivver.com/officeplugin/latest/Zivver.OfficePlugin.Installer.msi) of the Office plugin and repeat the steps from the previous chapter [Installation](https://docs.zivver.com/en/admin/officeplugin/rds-installation-manual.html#installation). The old version will be overwritten by the newest version of the Office plugin. ## Uninstall the plugin 1. Log in to the RDS Host Server with administrator rights. 2. Open the **Control panel**. 3. Go to **Programs**. 4. Click **Programs and Features**. 5. Select the **Zivver Office Plugin**. 6. Click **Uninstall**. 7. Click **Yes** to confirm. _Wait until the uninstallation process is complete. The plugin is now removed from the server._ ### Remove recommended Office plugin settings The recommended Office plugin settings can be removed from a RDS server via GPO.
